2024 update: I am afraid I am no longer taking new clients. Please try www.helpwithtalking.com to find a therapist.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I choose a private therapist?
Private therapy allows you to have more say in when and where the therapy takes place and how much therapy your child will have, without limitations of particular services. Private therapists may also offer therapy to a wider range of clients, for example, children with mild difficulties who may not otherwise qualify for speech and language therapy.
What's the difference between an NHS and a private therapist?
There is no difference in the qualifications of an independent therapist and one working for the NHS. The main difference is that clients pay for private speech and language therapy, but this brings more flexibility for the clients.
How can I check your qualifications?
All practising speech and language therapists need to be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. This is the regulating body who ensure that standards of practice are met. Follow the links to check my status:

Will you "cure" my child? How many sessions will it take?
Speech and language therapists work with people with a wide range of conditions and needs. Whether a child's communication difficulties can be resolved completely depends on the nature of the difficulty and the individual. Some children need just a few sessions while others will need support for a long time. I will work with you and your child, deciding what your therapy goals are, and help your child meet their maximum potential. I will be honest with you about how therapy is going for your child and give my professional opinion about what your child needs.
Do you have a DBS Certificate?
Yes, I have an enhanced DBS certificate, and subscribe to the DBS update service, so you can check my current status. Please email me if you would like to view this.
How much will therapy cost?
Prices vary according to which service you would like. Prices are based on an hourly face-to-face rate of £80 per hour. Why not call or email Cheryl to find out more about pricing.
